Golden October at the job market in Baden-Württemberg

The number of unemployed in Baden-Württemberg fell again in October. At 3.3 percent, the unemployment rate is as low as it has not been since October 1991. Especially people under the age of 25 profit from the good climate on the job market. The youth unemployment rate fell to 2.6 percent.

Economics and Labor Minister Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut commented happily on the published labor market figures for October: "October has proved to be a particularly golden October on the Baden-Württemberg labor market. Unemployment fell to its lowest level since October 1991. The forecasts of the labor market researchers of the Federal Employment Agency also predict a significant decline in unemployment and a further increase in employment in 2018. This will allow the country to stay optimistic about the future. "

With an unemployment rate of 3.3 percent, she is "optimistic that we will soon be able to talk about full employment in most regions of the country," said the minister. The labor market research speaks with an unemployment rate of two to three percent of full employment.

Fewer people under 25 without employment

The decline in unemployment in October, as in September, benefited young people under the age of 25 in particular. "With an unemployment rate of 2.6 percent, we have significantly undercut the previous year's quota of 2.9 percent," said Hoffmeister-Kraut.

However, she emphasized that many people still do not find their way out of long-term unemployment into regular employment. Especially for these persons, the state, in cooperation with the Federal Employment Agency, offers various options for the transition to permanent employment with various labor market programs. Hoffmeister-Kraut: "It remains an important social task, as far as possible to enable everyone to participate in working life."
